Hi everyone, how you decide which PEG to use for coating 2D material? I need the type just to coat material to see if it will be less toxic for the cells? I am not sure about the size and if I should use LA-PEG. Anyone with experience in this topic? I am very new, so any suggestion is appreciated

PEG (Mw. 2kD-5kD) is often used for coating nano-materials. One terminal group of the PEG functions to couple with the reactive groups on the nano-materials. For example, the lipoic acid (LA) moiety of LA-PEG reacts with sulfur on molybdenum sulfide (MoS2) to form disulfide bonds. If your 2D nano-material has sulfur on the surface, LA-PEG should work. If your 2D nano-material has other reactive group, you need to choose PEG having other terminal group. If your 2D nano-material has no reactive group, it may be difficult to coat with PEG.
As mentioned earlier, it greatly depends on the type of material you are using in your 2-D nanomaterial. In some cases, you can use PEGylated phospholipids like DSPE-PEG also if your base material is hydrophobic or amphiphilic. The molar ratio of PEG is also important in some cases.
