Dear all,

I´m currently synthesizing pure a-Ge NP (c-Ge only present in an amount around 2%) with a long aliphatic chain capping agent.

the presence of this ligand on the surface makes the TEM analysis difficult and not reliable, we also got some other measurement with SAXS. Unluckily at the end of the day, the different method produces not so coherent values, so we´re searching other methods to validate our expectations.

I've already checked for orthogonal scattering, willing to use  Rayleigh or Mie scattering theories, but seems like my particle do not scatter in any detectable way (within my facility).

I then passed to Brus equation, also tried to take some PL measurement, but we didn´t observe PL.

is not clear to me whether Brus theory can be applied to absorption spectra. Does it? Is there any other method for size measurement I might have overlooked?

(please find in the attachments a TEM img and UV spectra)

Thanks in advance

best

Bruno
