Paper under review for almost an year. is it normal?

My paper has been with the editor for almost an year. I have sent emails asking about the update of the review and i was replied saying that my manuscript is Editor assigned. Reminder has been sent to editor to expedite the procession of my work. Is this normal? How long should I wait?

Based on the rating of journal you can wait some more time otherwise send the same to another relevant journal for publication.
