Fida - number of publications is one factor - but is not always an indicator of 'significant' impact in the field. It depends on quality and level of 'outreach'. Formal citation, as well as number of publications, is probably the most common measurement of academic impact but, again, this can be a flawed mechanism. Personally, I have quite a few publications and, for my disciplines, they are generally well cited. However, I would argue that, becoming increasingly important, is standing, reputation and 'outreach' with regard to industry, partners, community, key stakeholders etc. Aligned with this, is impact and influence on policy, government reports etc.

Concrete examples might be more relevant compared to the number of publications and citations. For example, have you introduced a new term? Have you tested somethings that were not tested before you about a well-known phenomenon? Maybe the data set that you collected was unique. And so on.
