I am looking for a free software, possibly linux compatible, for orthorectification of satellite images using both DEM and sensor data. Any suggestions?
I am currently using OTB but I am not getting good results.
Among the suggested options and others, I haven't found yet an open-source tool than can install/run smoothly on an ubuntu machine and perform orthorectification using sensor data.
As a temporary solution, I am using Geomatica, a commercial software on a windows virtual machine. The free trial version allows performing orthorectification of common satellite products based on DEM and the image (GC points are optional). I tested it on different WorldView images and the results look good.
It is a pity that grass has discontinued the i.ortho.photo module from its qgis plugin, I would have liked to make a comparison.
OSSIM is an open source project for remote sensing and image processing that has been under active development since 1996. Once running, it provides for highly effective, stable and reliable image processing capability, including ortho- rectification for various sensor types.
