As Likert scales are ordinal data, non-parametic statistics are recommended to analyse this type of data. However, many articles in the social science field use mean, standard deviation, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation.
As this seems to be acceptable, can anyone please recommend a good article that discuss (and justify) treating ordinal data as interval data?
What is the best way to present the frequency of ordinal (frequency recorded) data in SPSS? Histograms make no sense but I am struggling with creating a meaningful bar chart.
