Hi everyone !
Once again, I would be very interested in your opinion about an emerging field of population genetics : community genetic. It seems to me that many people in research have different definition about this emergent approach.
The publication from Neuhauser et al. (2003) defines community genetics as the study of genetic variation (and especially local adaptation) influence on community functioning. Besides most of papers I read on this topic, were indeed based on this conceptual framework.
However, other papers rather focus on neutral genetic variability across multiple species. This is the case when one wants to study specific-genetic diversity correlation (SGDC) in a given system (ex. Fourtune et al. 2016), or when one is interested in the impact of life history traits on neutral genetic variability patterns (an example on Hawaii coral reefs associated species in Selkoe et al. 2016).
What would be your own definition about community genetic actually ? Would you have any paper/personal experience related to this field that you would not mind sharing ?
Personally I am particularly interested in neutral genetic patterns, rather than local adaptation. But any topic will be welcome :)
Thank you all,
Chrys
