No. Face to face (FTF) teaching is a superior way of teaching. This is why MOOCs have been slow to succeed. Many will say MOOCs have failed. I love the idea of digital teaching taken over our teaching and learning experience, but I still say the physical face to face teaching is the best. The sense of belonging in a class, verbal communication, content delivery - very much present in face to face. Some may prefer blended learning as we go forward. For me, online learning works well for postgrad courses but not for those undergrads.

i totally agree with you and i have an experience with this. My Son is in grade 5 and it is difficult for him to mingle with the new system . he always complain about it and prefer to be there especially for Math classes.

I disagree somewhat, you need to be trained and skilled to use online platforms which can be engaging, creative, interactive and appealing to young learners. A balance of both, a hybrid model is ideal.

I think teaching is a human process; so It is not only knowledge transfer. Online activities support teaching and "No Way" to apply instead of direct or face to face teaching comletely. Yes the students need to have new skills that are matching with the future and 4th industrial revolution IR 4.0 but they will lose their values and effective behavior If they do not interact with physical environment of learning.

I don't think online learning can take place Physical Learning. Learning in not only to develop knowledge but also social aspect such as collaboration, students interaction and values. Students need model more than just explanation or example. Students need real live experience.

For adults classes, online lessons can be easily replaced but for children's classes, it is hard and very challenging to have online lessons as the teacher cannot easily check the classwork, homework and the kid's mom or dad should be sitting next to the kid to support both the kid and the teacher when needed.

Online teaching, regardless of age, requires a certain level of discipline to be effective. This being said, students, especially young children, tend to struggle with: completing tasks, focusing on lesson during video instruction and intentionally trying to learn the material. The issue of online learning effectiveness is closely tied, in my opinion, with: level of interest in the subject, perceived long term value of subject matter to student and the level of opportunity for disengagement. School age children tend to not want to go to school because class is boring and the online learning platform allows for students to easily disengage in the learning activity.

At this point in time, teachers are "retooling" and becoming better at creating: online interactive content, engaging video presentations as well as providing material that students can print at home.

So, to answer the original question, no. I do not think online learning, at this point in time, can effectively replace face-to-face learning. Especially for younger students who relish the social aspects of engaging with both peers and teacher.
