I want to migrate vms based on ram and place them on Host by selecting hosts based on power consumption. I could find the cpu utilization is dependend on mips but what are the factors that depend on ram to increase or decrease energy consumption of Host.Thanks in advance.
Are you asking what factors govern the processing "efficiency" of a CPU? The energy consumed by a CPU depends on the rate of execution of instructions - but this depends enormously on the system environment, the operating system, what type of programming language is being used and how intensive the work is at "application level". I don't think you will be able to get a meaningful figure for this because of the large number of variables many of which can't be easily quantified. To simplify the issue of RAM usage, larger RAM is better because the system won't spend any or much time paging, that is, swapping machine code instructions in and out of some sort of backing store like a disk. But that again is not easily quantifiable.
