Dear all, within 2 weeks (January 16th 2013), I hope to defend my thesis on the topic above.
I hope you can ask me anything regarding this thesis/ topic, so I can practice before the thesis defense.
Obesity can be linked to OA via endocrine and/or metabolic pathways, mainly via adipokines. Metabolic cyndrome is another clue to consider.
Please find enclosed few papers on the topic (please send e your mail address)
Good luck for you PhD defence.

Obesity is associated with an overabundance of pro-inflammatory markers which have impact on various tissues, probably contributing to OA.
Thanks Prof. Liote and Dr. Deen. My email is [email protected]
Dear all, its important to remember the biomechanics aspects: muscles power and joint healthy too.
Obesity
1- mechanical overload on joints
2-endocrine properities of adipocytes==>pro inflammatory and inflammatory cytokines
3- associated atherosclerosis includes subchondral vessels
4-obesity==>insulin resistance==>hyperinsulinemia==>hyperuricemia==>urate deposition in joints===>mechanical injury of cartilage by crystals
Both are caused by the same " toxic overload" ...; body will create safe storage room for these toxins (fat) .... and some will escape and do damage ...
We be glad to get someone who has experience
