One subtle thing I never noticed on Google Scholar was that some versions of papers I would encounter on Google Scholar have a star/asterisk (*) beside them. Does anybody know what that means? It doesn't say on the page itself. I tried searching and had little luck.

If you click on ths asterisk, it says 'This "Cited by" count includes citations to the following articles in Scholar. The ones marked * may be different from the article in the profile.'
