From my point of view NVIVO is the best. But it depends on your personal ease and availability of software. Furthermore, on which software your supervisor has command?

I work with Atlas.ti and I think it's very user friendly. It works intuitively. Its durability is great. I don't know about affordability, my university paid for it. It never crashes and I use it on Mac. I think the only downside is, if you want to get a nice network view, you need other software, but otherwise it's great.

I worked with both of them but since two years ago we started working with MAXQDA. For me it is better than Atlas or NVIVO. The only point may be its affordability (I don't know the price of Atlas or NVIVO but MAXQDA is not free)

Muhammad Abdullah Avais my supervisor did not suggest any of it, I'm taking my own initiative to test several options within qualitative software.

Rosa Groen I went to a qualitative research design workshop and the trainer who had used both of them, strongly suggested Atlas.ti. I never used any of them but having these recommendations surely make me wanted to try Atlas.ti.

Sergi López-Asensio I rarely heard people uses MAXQDA, surely a useful suggestion.
