I am undertaking my first research study and getting to grips with NVIVO 12. I have completed initial coding for three interviews so far and have realised that I haven't kept note of how many new nodes I have added for each interview, which is something I would like to investigate. Is there an easy way of doing this? Or do I need to go back over my second and third interviews and complete the task manually? Would much appreciate guidance from any NVIVO 12 experts. Using a Mac version.

Unfortunately there isn't a built-in feature that will automatically track new node creation per source, so you'll need to use a workaround method.
1) Each node in NVIVO has a creation date associated with it. You can view this by opening the Node List, right-clicking on the column headers, and selecting "Creation Date" to add that column. This will show you when each node was originally created. You can compare the creation dates to when you coded each interview to get a sense of how many new nodes came from each one.
2) When viewing an interview transcript, you can turn on coding stripes which visually show which nodes are coded to each section of the text. As you code each interview, take a screenshot or make a note of the coding stripes at the end. This will give you a visual record of the nodes used for that interview. You can later count the nodes for each interview from your screenshots/notes.
3) Run a node matrix query with the interviews as rows and nodes as columns. This will show you a matrix of which nodes occur in each interview. Newly created nodes for an interview will show up as a "1" in that interview's row.
4) The most straightforward but time-consuming option is to simply keep a manual record as you are coding each interview -- meh!
