I am going to conduct a numerical simulation for expansive soil, for the hydromechanical behavior of expansive soil footing interaction due to suction or water content variations, I see from many papers that used BBM model and others used coupled flow-deformation model Could any one advice me which model is suitable to simulate expansive soil and how to implement it in ABAQUS, please?

It is better to use coupled flow deformation model because this model predict the real response that in terms of performing a soil - water coupled analysis. As you aware the response of expansive soil is mainly depends on change in water level in soil..but lot of literature available based ABAQUS so you can download those papers and software manual for getting better understanding on these aspects. ok all the best in your research..
