I want to find an intership, ideally, in an ancient DNA laboratory. Anyway, I am happy to consoder more options as i want to get more experience before starting my thesis next year at the Queensland Brain Institute.
I have a BSc in archaeological sciences from the Univeristy of Bradford, UK, and now I am doing a master in molecular biology at the university of Queensland. I am intrested in evoluton, genetics and astrobiology, that is why I'd like to intern in a ancient DNA lab. I know is difficult, that is why I am open to other options and I am happy to travel, as this is also a chance to go to new places.
It would be great to have any kind of tips, from where to look for to how to otain an internship in a laboratory.

Why not try to contact some of the ancient DNA lab to request their approval for your internship. This i believe would be the best option for you.

Other labs are vastly smaller, and likely you won't learn nothing useful beside being a bone drilling monkey. And here is a key: you need to have some analytical skills or at least try to go this way.
For any smaller lab just read any paper and google the corresponding author to find where his lab is and if that is a real deal or one research grant shot.
Also note that the golden age of the aDNA is just about to end (despite what lab heads are saying). Field is moving rapidly in the direction of solving less widespread archaeological questions regarding social structures within given sites or areas.
The one left interesting leftover is a very deep human history, but be assured that only main labs will ever get hands on these samples (as a smaller lab you won't get a research grant to study one super old bone)
