Is there any tool/technique that can help me in measuring thickness of double epoxy coating. Both are epoxy but with two different types of fillers. The resin could be same for both of them. The thickness scale could be from 20um - 500 um.
if the filler is chemically different, you may be able to differentiate it, on a sample after section cut, examining both the morphology and the chemistry of the two different layers, using a SEM with EDAX probe. All this after a careful preparation of the sample (polishing) and having made it conductive.
Pierluigi Traverso thank you very much for your input. We can perform destructive analysis to measure the thickness, however I was looking for more non-destructive approach.
Stefan Krakowiak I was also looking at that option, however I am confused if it can distinguish between two different types of epoxy since the ultrasonic pulse may go through both and reflect from the metal. Please, let me know if you have successfully used Positector to measure epoxy thickness when there are two layers of epoxy. Thanks a lot!
