Hi,
I am trying to model ligaments for a spine model in LS-DYNA using truss elements. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to define a linear elastic material for the trusses that only offers resistance to tension, and does not resist compression. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of methods to accomplish what you intend. Discrete beams and trusses are controllable.
In 2010, I utilized a Type 2 Belytschko-Schwer beam using *MAT_MOMENT_CURVATURE_BEAM which is a resultant formulation - instead of stress-strain, you define load vs. strain curve, moment vs. curvature, and torsion vs. rate of twist inputs. The deterministic nature of this formulation gives predictable answers per beam; two beams with the same material model will have exactly the same resultant force vs. strain (etc) even if cross-sectional area and 2nd moments are different. Thus, you could control the input load such that your tendons bend, twist, extend, and compress exactly as you want them.
