Ninhydrin compatibility with B-mercaptoethanol?

I'm trying to find a way to lyse microalgae strains and am exploring different detergents to improve lysis.

I normally suspend the dried biomass in water and preform sonication to disrupt the cells, however for the more stubborn strains this isn't working.

Is B-mercaptoethanol compatible with ninhydrin reagent, as this is what I'm using for my assay? If not please any recommendations of detergents which would be fine to use with the ninhydrin assay are much appreciated.
