Yes a new strain has emerged due to a mutation in the spike protein of the beta-coronavirus, but according to reports it is not more dangerous and also does not spread faster than the already existing virus. The vaccination drive has already started and it is not long before India will start with its vaccination programme. We need to be vigilant about the people coming from UK and south Africa, test all of them and isolate positive cases immediately. The government has already banned all UK incoming flights till 31st December and taking putting all those who had returned in the past few days under quarantine.

I feel that, Indian government should stop people to celebrate the New Year's celebration and party (YEAR 2021), Just to follow the rules and regulations of WHO. And, Gloves should be mandatory for all...
How will we get to know whether the new strain is circulating in India or not?

Also, Aroop Mohanty sir - thanks for clarifying that it doesn't spread faster; had heard contrary false information earlier!
Shubham Sahni I am really glad I could. We are all getting vaccinated now and we sincerely hope that be it Covaxin or Covishield, they are effective against all possible mutations of the virus.
