Can someone explain how to create a multi-floor scenario in NetSim? The GUI is 2D and hence not sure how to do this? Also what needs to be considered to estimate the capacity of 802.11 ac WiFi in such a scenario?
You need to configure the X, Y, Z co-ordinates of the network devices using the configuration file. If you have existing data then the pathloss can be input via the pathloss matrix file. Else you have to use some pathloss model that takes into account blocking due to walls, roof etc.
I would like to know, how to account for the blocking due to multiple floors, walls etc in NetSim? Are there standard pathloss models for this?
A standard pathloss expression is
PL(d) = 40.05 + 20*log10(fc/2.4) + 20*log10(min(d,5)) + (d>5) * 35*log10(d/5) + 18.3*F^((F+2)/(F+1)-0.46) + 5*W
d = max(3D distance [m], 1)
fc = frequency [GHz]
F = number of floors traversed
W = number of walls traversed in x-direction plus number of walls traversed in the y-direction

Does (d>5) needs to be in the equation when d is more than 5? Or it will only be:
PL(d) = 40.05 + 20*log10(fc/2.4) + 20*log10(min(d,5)) + 35*log10(d/5) + 18.3*F^((F+2)/(F+1)-0.46) + 5*W
and for the case when d less than 5, pathloss expression becomes:
PL(d) = 40.05 + 20*log10(fc/2.4) + 20*log10(min(d,5)) + 18.3*F^((F+2)/(F+1)-0.46) + 5*W

Sai R N Thanks for the response. So it will only be the term "35*log10(d/5)" instead of "(d>5) * 35*log10(d/5)" when D is greater than 5?
