Nahar et al. (2006) found a strong negative relationship between non-plant parasitic and plant parasitic nematodes after composted cattle manure application, supporting “the utility of the ratio between non-plant parasitic and plant parasitic nematodes as a useful soil quality indicator”.

However, Neher (2010) (Ecology of Plant and Free-Living Nematodes in Natural

and Agricultural Soil) does not recommend the use of the above ratio but prefers the use of maturity indexes.

As we have found good inverse correlations between non-plant parasitic and plant parasitic nematodes after organic soil amendment - I would like to include this ratio in our paper - what are your thoughts on this?
