In case of single-carrier we can remove the phenomenon of ISI by the process of equalization means we can remove the problem of frequency selectivity by doing so.
my doubt is that even in the case of multicarrier communication we are converting the frequency selective channel into various frequency flat sub-channels, and we know that data rate remains the same for both single carrier and multicarrier the why we need to go for subdividing of the channel and parallel modulation despite we can solve the problem of frequency selectivity and ISI (Intersymbol interference ) by the process of equalization by opening the eye of the eye diagram through recursive channel model?
please any suggestions from experts are highly welcomed and admirable.
