In solving the shallow water models, I think that the problem of ensuring positive water level and the problem of handling dry cells in the computer code are two different problems? Kindly clarify this, please.
I think they are different because even after avoiding negative water depth, we still need to programmatically handle dry cells since the Fluid equations are not valid here. I can think of element removal method of drying and wetting. After using the method of Audusse, E. et al(2004), one still applies the element removal strategy to handle the dry cells.
Please assist.
