Hi, I am synthesizing ZnO nanoparticles in MeOH using KOH. But after adding KOH and heating the solution to 60 0C I am getting a white turbidity which turns to white ppt on further heating. According to literature I should get a clear solution of ZnO nanodispersion. Please help.
From my experience, This white turbidity is ZnO nanoparticle which has been formed into clusters with large particle size.
To get the clear solution, heat your solution very slowly. Else you can also synthesis ZnO nanoparticle using sol-gel technique with Zinc acetate and ethanol only.

The white precipitate is probably due to the aggregation of ZnO nanoparticles. Adding the base dropwise and gradual increase of temperature will help to control the growth of ZnO nanoparticles.

Dear Dheeraj Chauhan, first of all I suggest to remove the full-text within your question (Copyright violation) and add a link to the publisher’s homepage. Effects of clouding, aggregation and agglomeration are normal. Keep in mind that the explained synthesis leads to surface modified particles (by acetic acid). If you need more and not-modified particles you can also try the approach explained within the publication.
