that is a very broad request and there are tons of possible topics that are worth investigation.

However, one interesting topic I have come across recently is the potential of block-chain technologies in patient-centred healthcare. In particular, I think it is exciting to elaborate where and how such technologies (i.e., pieces of software) can add value (for instance within processes that need to be save and trustworthy, such as the subscription of therapies and/or medication). Blockchain naturally comes with a huge overhead and is oftentimes misused in specific contexts, since decentralized structures aren't always needed.

This is just a thought of mine. Your topic also greatly depends on your supervisor's research and expertise. However, I think digital healthcare is a promising field.

I had the same issue when I start my Ph.D. I didn't know what to do!! But you first think about what area you are more like it and comfortable with it, or which area do you like to work on it in the next 4 years. When you decide, just try to find these professors who are working in that area and write a simple proposal. Most of the time the ideas inside your proposal will change more than 90% and only the main idea will remain.

Thank you very much all of you, I really appreciate your answers. Some days back I posted my master research topic. I am interested in Validation/Testing of UML models. In fact I sent my PhD proposal to some university professors who worked in same field but I didnt get any response. I thought my proposal is not strong enough, this is the reason I requested for help. If any one has worked related to Validation/ Testing of software models might help me in working on proposal please.

My advice is very simple: You should do a literature review about the topics you are interested in, you may use google scholar to start. You will find a lot of good ideas and challenges for your PhD research.

Shamshad Naveed I wish you best of luck with your proposal. I think it is very common for professors to not respond to every request immediately, sometimes mails will get lost in their inbox. I suggest that you try to contact one of the professor's employees, maybe a PhD student or postdoc and ask them whether they (or the prof) would supervise you. I think this way it is more likely to get a response.

Good PhD advisors usually have a well documented webpage on which their show their publications, CV, research projects, research funds, previous and current PhD students, and if you get accepted as a PhD student, they will assign you a research project related to their research. My advise is before your start your PhD dissertation project, spend from 4 to 8 weeks doing a comprehensive survey of the publications related to your project.

I would recommend you to study the intersection of IoT and Federated Learning. The concern of Federated Learning is to train a global neural network model in a distributed way without IoT nodes having to reveal their data, thereby ensuring privacy.
