I hardly see any published results for electron diffraction done using the nanobeam ED settings. Is there a reason for prefering SAED over NBED?
NBED is preferred to decipher the structural information from the localized area of the specimen.

Thanks for the answer. I know NBED is preferred, but it is not commonly used despite its advantages.
The indisputable advantage of NBED is the lower spot size of electron beam, so the beam can be localized onto smaller objects. On the other side, the problem is usually low intensity of gained reflections on diffraction pattern because of strong reduction of the numbers of electrons in the beam. The second problem is, in dependence on microscope type, complicated centering of the smallest condenser apperture.
