My question is about Baculovirus mediated protein expression- The vector pFAST BAC 1, the carrier vector has Amp and Gentamicin resistance and Bacmid present in Bac5alpha competent cell has Tet and Kan resistance, but while antibiotic selection, the manual is saying to plate the transformation mixture on Gentamicin, Tet and Kan resistant plate. Why are they not considering ampicillin resistance?

I am currently working with this same system and have wondered about this myself, but concluded that it wouldn't matter since there is already one selection marker being used (i.e. Gentamycin). The untransformed cells will not grow on Gn, so why would anyone add Amp for? This would just be a waste.
