It was mostly done in Hamburg by the University Hospital - later they made a press release saying that COVID-19 is caused by a "Multi-Organ-Virus"...
SARS-CoV-2 suggests that it is a Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (caused by Corona Virus-2). But is that still adequate? Must SARS-CoV-2 be renamed to Systemic Acute Respiratory and Multi Organ Syndrome-CoV (SARMOS-CoV)?!

Just like HIV-AID is multiorgan disease, COVID-19 is also a multiorgan disease, both caused by two viruses.
COVID-19 (COrona VIrus Disease-19) is an appropriate name because it does not talk about Coronavirus-2019 infection, but a disease.
COVID-19 is the disease, SARS-CoV-2 the name of the causing agent.
To be honest, I am not a friend of re-naming an agent, as that may cause confusion. By the way, skin and eyes may be affected as well.
There are many examples where the name of the virus describes not completely its tropism. E.g., FSMEV not always causes meningoencephalitis, haemorrhagic fever viruses (Lassa-Virus, AHF, BHF, BzHF etc. not always cause haemorrhages, encephalitis viruses (JEV, EEE, VEE, WEE, SLE etc.) affect other organs as well and do not always cause encephalitis. I would not opt for a name change after the first name nCov-2019 has been changed to SARS-CoV-2.

COVID-19 is a disease of multi-organ affection with different presentations . not just a flu like .
