Dear fellow researchers,

In an automotive business environment, when releasing materials, sub-components, components and spare parts for mass production for the first time, there are initial sample test reports. The rules for these are laid down in PPAP (Production Parts Approval Process) Version 4 and higher, or in the VDA (German Automobile Manufacturers' Association) Volume 2 (VDA Band 2).

One essential part is the full materials declaration of materials, providing a chemical breakdown of materials to be used. This allows a tracking of Substances of Concern (SoC) such as heavy metals, or of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) that are bio accumulating, to name one sample group.

Are there other standard industry procedures for First Article Inspection, for example, requesting a materials declaration along the whole supply chain?

If you are aware of these, kindly send me a sample document explaining the details.

Thank you very much in advance, and stay healthy in these hard Corona times
