To the colleagues who are interested in multi level power inverters, i would like that they see this paper on the stepped sinewave inverter which is published on the journal of solar cells in 1990. You will see how this paper established the fundamentals of such multi level inverter to the first time. Unfortunately, there is no mention to this paper in important citations.

Dear @Abdelhalim, I do agree that intensive research is ongoing on multi-level-invertors. Here is an example,paper is attached! "This converter is based on the multilevel converters principle,and it is proposed to be used as DC-link in applications where several controlled voltage levels are needed with self balancing and unidirectional current flow, such as photovoltaic (PV) or fuel cell generation systems with multilevel inverters. Used to feed a multilevel inverter, the proposed topology achieves a self voltage balancing; experimental results prove the principle of the proposition."
