Why UGC is not recognising M.Tech equivalent to M.Phil and AICTE does not comment on such issue?
As per UGC norms for Ph.D course work is mandatory for all except who have done M.Phil.
Pls refer following:
B.Tech + M.Tech = 6 years
B.Sc/BA/B.Com+ M.Sc/MA/M.Com + M.Phil = 6 years
Now as M.Phil is eliminated so the duration for 2nd case is reduced to 5 years.Moreover M.Tech is a technical degree along with one semester of research work with Thesis.
Then why M.Tech cannnot be exempted from course work?
Please give your views.

I never heard of a M. Tech. before over here in old EUrope.
Germany has not used / was not accustomed to Master degrees for ages but now we know B.A., B.Sc., B.LL., B.Eng., B. Ed., B. Mus. and all the Master versions... - it is very well known in the anglo-saxon world but there may be differences between Ireland, UK and in particular the USA/CA, AUS...

With your analysis, M.Phil is offered after M.Sc/MA/M.Com however M.Tech is achieve after B.Tech for applicant that attended Universities of Technology.
Nothing that M.Phil are usually obtained where there is difficiences in the grade obtained after M.Sc/MA to meet up with the admission requirements. Tactically, M.Phil is another coursework so doesn't require more further Coursework again during the PhD program.
Yes, I understand.. but after M.Tech why coursework is required before Ph.D and M.Phil students are exempted from that.
