Hi everyone, I'm starting with my project for my master's degree in cyber security and unfortunately, I'm having a hard time coming up with optional topics. I started discussing a a topic on the evolution of cyber threat intelligence but my supervisor advised me to go for practical projects instead of research-based (which i totally get where he's coming from). I'm thinking about application of malware analysis on intrusion detection and protection systems but I'm still looking for other topics.
Any suggested topics would really be appreciated.

For a Master's project in cybersecurity here are a few avant-garde project ideas that are far out of the ordinary yet feasible w/i parameters of a MSc project
**AI-Driven Predictive Cyberthreat Maps**:
- Develop an AI system that aggregates global cybersecurity threat data in real-time and uses predictive modeling to create 'threat maps'. These would visually represent where and when future cyber-attacks are likely to occur, akin to weather forecasting but for digital storms.
**Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for Cyber Defense**:
- Utilize GANs where two neural networks compete, one generating malware or attack vectors, and the other defending against them. The project could explore how defensive AI can evolve through this adversarial process.
**Deepfake Detection Framework**:
- With the rise of deepfakes, devise a tool that uses machine learning to identify manipulated audio or video with potential applications in countering disinformation campaigns.
**Emotion AI for Phishing Detection**:
- Create software that tracks user emotion via biometric data to determine when they might be under duress or experiencing a phishing attempt, adding a human aspect to cybersecurity defenses.
These topics challenge you to explore the "art of the possible" in cybersecurity. Each of these projects can be made into working prototype.

A complete different approach is to analyse why former security models failed or have been forgotten; discretionary access control, mandatory access control (orange book, red book ... rainbow series) , read-up / write-down protection, one-way gateways ...
Another approach could be to investigate the science of cyber security: how strong is a (combination of) cyber security measures - can it scientifically be proofed?
