I think Flow3D is better than Fluent software for sediment transport modeling. but for other simulation Fluent is better. it is my experience.

OpenFoam variants are the best ones to do it. They are also open source

FLOW-3D provides simple model to calculate these questions. Porous model, like Forcheimer model, can be applied to describe the wave-breakwater interaction. Scour topography around/behind the breakwater is accurate with proper mesh setting.

And OPENFOAM is the best opensource toolbox.

I recommend Flow-3D. It's user friendly.

Flow 3d and Fluent can simulate sediment transport phenomenon. I have employed Flow 3d in my studies. This software simulated this phenomenon correctly.

I think in open source: OpenFOAM and commercial: Ansys & Flow 3D.

3- HEC-RAS 5 (1 D & 2 D)

4- GSTAR (Quasi 2 D)

I used all of them expect than Delft 3D in river sediments distribution, bed erosion, deposition for Nile River and also High Aswan Dam Reservoir for (short and along term simulation) also, (small and big domain)

OPENFOAM is the best opensource toolbox.

I suggest you use from OpenFOAM software that it is one of CFD softwares package. OpenFOAM, an open-source CFD package with multiple distributions, has served as a good platform to develop detailed flow and sediment process models in surface water applications.
