Hello everyone,

I have one basic question I am struggling with about Molar mass. Can we find the molar mass of a composite like we find of molecules?

For example,

I have 60volSiC-40volZrB2. I converted to wt%, so it becomes 44.19wt%SiC-55.81wtZrB2.

Now, what will be the molar mass of 44.19wt%SiC-55.81wtZrB2? The weight of the sample is 20g if it matters.

Calculation:

  • wt%=mass/total mass and I want to find the total mass
    • 44.19=(density*vol)of SiC/Total_mass
      • 44.19=(3.21*0.6)/total_mass
        • total_mass=3.21*0.6/44.1=4.3 g/mol (Does this make sense ?)
