This is an excellent manuscript that is well crafted and thought out very carefully. The microglial cell is a fascinating neuroglia cell that is very involved in maintaining the brains health. It undergoes an extensive ultrastructural remodeling and actually contributes to Metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases that are becoming pandenmic in our global population due to the expansion of our global aging post World War II global baby boom generation. Most all age-related diseases including type II diabetes, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease are associated via the aging baby boom generation and will create a massive stress on our global health care systems-networks worldwide. Therefore, papers such as this are very important and timely in order for us all to increase our understanding of the microglia from its development to adult and in increasingly number of disease states mentioned previously.

Congratulations to the authors for sharing this timely publication on Research Gate: Microglia and the Brain: Complementary Partners in Development and Disease...

Soon our paper regarding the abnormally activated microglia Ultrastructural remodeling changes of the neuroglial - microglial cells in the female diabetic db/db will be published in the new Journal NEUROGLIA online and open access.
