MHC regulation in pregnancy

I am of the opinion that the downregulation of MHC during pregnancy is due to the high progesteron level in the mothers body. Also females are more prone to autoimmune disease than men and the obvious difference are the sex hormones. I am very keen on knowing the role these hormones play in MHC regulation. Any views and debates on the topic is welcomed.
