Alongside my PhD, I have been working as a Maths and Statistics Tutor at the university. This involves assisting students of all education levels with any issues they may be facing when analysing their quantitative or qualitative data, learning new statistical software and generally helping them realise that neither are curse words. I am looking at developing some e-learning modules, which would enable support in certain areas to be available 24/7. Is this something that other academics would be interested in for their students? Also, students, would this be useful to you? I have found over the last 2 years that a lot of tutors just hand a piece of paper to the student with a list of instructions on how to run a test, but this does not answer many of the questions being asked. I want to move away from this and provide a learning tool that will assist learning in a way that alleviates the stress and frustration felt by the students. Let me know what you have found works and whether the concept of e-learning would be something that would interest you.
