Hello all, I'm looking for alternative ways to process frozen coral samples to quantify chlorophyll and proteins that doesn't involve airbrushing the tissue from the corallite. I've found a few that crush them and then extract chlorophyll using methanol but understand that interferes with the proteins. I'd be most grateful for a point in the right direction for literature on alternatives.

you can use a waterpik which works just fine. Your samples may end up a bit clumped, but a few seconds of tissue homogenization (electrical preferred, but manual will do) will take care of the clumping. Good luck!
You could crush them, homogenise and take sub-samples to seperately analyse chl and protein.
