I’m wondering whether there is any option to calculate mean and standart deviation to calculate standardized mean difference for meta analysis if data were reported as median and IQR or delta or % change Because some results of studies were reported as median and IQR or delta change or % change. How could we convert the data to mean and standart deviation to calculate standardized mean difference? For example; there are two-groups including placebo and drug treatment groups. The baseline levels are as median and IQR and 250 (150-300) (N=32) for placebo group, 275 (180-310) (N=39) for drug treatment group. The drug treatment decreased by blood glucose -17% (-2 %to -25%; P=0.05) compared to placebo group. For another example, drug treatment caused a non-significant decrease in blood glucose levels: Δ-20.6, (-3.7 to-38.3); p = 0.06. For these examples, is there any option to calculate mean and standardized deviation or standardized mean difference for meta analysis? Thank you in advance.
