Biography
Dr. Zefeng Xu will join the Microelectronics Thrust of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) in 2025 as an assistant professor. He received his PhD and MBA double degrees from National University of Singapore (NUS) under supervision of Professor Aaron Thean (NAI fellow, Vice President and Provost of NUS). He graduated from Sun Yat-sen University under Professor Yu-Sheng Lin. Dr. Xu has published more than 30 journals and conference papers in the fields of optoelectronic device, photonic computing, and optical sensor (Light: Science & Applications, Advanced Optical Materials, npj 2D Materials and Applications, etc.), and has presented his wroks at top international conferences such as IEDM, CLEO, OMN, AICS, etc.

Dr. Xu's team invites PhD students, research assistants, visiting scholars, etc. to join in cutting-edge research projects!
Research directions (include but not limited to):
Optoelectronic devices, photonic computing, photonic chip interconnection, optical sensing, AI for semiconductor
Support:
1. Full PhD scholarship (about 15,000 RMB per month, 3-4 years)

Recruitment requirements for doctoral students:
1. No requirement of nationality.
2. Background on microelectronics, optoelectronics, electrical engineering, material science, computer science, and other related fields.
3. Hold bachelor or master degree. Master is preferred.
4. Strong interest in the fields mentioned above.
5. Admission date: August 2025 or February 2026.
5. Good English oral and writing abilities.
