Looking at both economic and scientific aspects, is it acceptable to go for a narrow gap welding, for a 25mm thick joint?
Hi Ravikiran ,
in narrow gap it will be constrained fluidity and as a consequence a non-filled joint leading to failure or strength drooping.
if you have sufficient time and a suitable technique to fill gap before metal solidification there will be no problem.
Regards.
Narrow gap welding should be investigated for thicker joints, 50 mm at least in order to be interesting from a scientific point of view. Faster and more effective techniques have been proposed for 25 mm thick steel joints, indeed.
