Over 7.5 million people worldwide have recovered from SARS-CoV-2, but for some it may just be the first act in a much longer battle, as more and more COVID-19 patients report symptoms that last about three weeks and in some cases even a few months. Scientists and doctors are gradually finding out that COVID-19 is not necessarily a short-lived and transient disease in young patients. Not all patients will recover within two weeks, and even those diagnosed as mild COVID-19 cases may struggle with health problems long after the virus has disappeared from their body.
Since there are still no long-term follow-up studies (from what I know) on large populations of COVID-19 patients, is it possible to learn from the long-term results documented in recovering from previous corona viruses, SARS and MERS to predict future COVID-19 complications?
Thanks in advance for the comments and opinions
Take care
