I am interested in better understanding (quantitatively) the composition of the brain extracellular matrix, particularly in terms of laminin (i.e. what type and the concentration one might typically find in the human brain).
I am interested in recapturing the mechanical properties and chemical composition of the brain for a set of experiments I intend to run. I have run into a bit of a challenge in scouring the literature in search of the appropriate concentration of laminin to use for my experiments. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joseph, I think you will have a problem with quantifying brain laminin ECM proteins.
Laminin comes in many different forms and it is not alone in brain ECM.
Brain ECM is different depending on which cells you are looking at: endothelial, microglia, astrocyte, choroid plexus, etc.

Thank you very much for your post. I understand that the brain ECM composition is highly dynamic and not limited to laminin. I am interested in recapturing the tumor microenvironment in terms of both stiffness and composition, as well as modulating the concentration of ECM components (including laminin) and characterizing the matrix and cell response.
It would be helpful to me at this point to have any relevant information regarding the composition of brain ECM, for any region/cell type. Because of the challenges you have mentioned I may have to modify the design of my experiment.

Hi Joseph, if you are looking at glioblastoma, there are lots of ECM proteins that have been implicated.
