Hi I am trying to simulate the model in abaqus . I have a rectangular aluminium plate and I have glued a piezoelectric sensor (acting as a transmitter) to the surface of the plate. I applied sinusoidal tone burst signal to the pzt1 and a Lamb wave is generated in the plate. Then i want to capture the signals with another pzt 2 sensor (acting as a receiver).now my problem is pzt1 can’t transfer to this electrical potential to plate structure .I checked coupling property and contact action but I can’t solve this problem . Please help me.

When you apply a time dependent electrical potential to the actuator it deforms according to the applied signal (inverse piezoelectric effect). This deformation excites a wave in the plate. You do not need to transfer the electric potential to the plate as the plate has only structural degrees of freedom. When the wave encounters the sensor, the sensor is deformed and therefore an electric potential is generated in the sensor (direct piezoelectric effect). However, in Abaqus you can only run such an analysis in Standard (implicit solver) as the explicit solver offers no electro-mechanically coupled finite elements.
For the actuator you can ground one electrode (set the potential to zero) and the other electrode receivs the time-dependent voltage signal. Between both electrodes an electrical field is generated and therefore the actuator deforms.
Since what you measure at the sensor is an integral mean over the electrode you could constrain all nodes on one elctrodes to have the same still unknown electric potential. The other electrode could also be grounded.
