What do you think about your lab safety rules? Do you respect them? Do you remember to use a "one glove rule"? How safety may be improved in your work spaces? I enclosed a very well prepared Laboratory Checklist, maybe someone would like to use it.
The material is well structured and will serve as an evaluation checklist. Laboratory safety is very imporant way of safeguarding workers as well as the working environ ment and the materials in use. It forms the basic part of the quality control and assurance process.
I agree that laboratory safety is a very important topic. Our laboratory supervisor does a great job in educating stuff about hazards in the lab. If untrained stuff, e.g. cleaning personal is aware of the dangers risky situations can often be avoided. Well placed and easy understandable guidelines further improve lab safety. In case of emergency it is critical to obtain informations without searching for guidelines/evacuation plans/emergency procedures. Personally I think that everybody who works with hazardous materials or devices should be trained in basic first aid and basic life support.
Further I think that only with repetitive, theme specific advanced training a high level of lab safety is achievable.
