Getting ready to transition to a faculty appointment and want to put cell lines, plasmids, freezer stocks into an easily manageable format. I am looking for software (not web-based or an app). Labgru is great but I don't have control over the items is the server tanks -- not what I am looking for. Does anyone know of a good software for purchase that can be used for an academic lab setting for this purpose? Thanks!
You could try looking at freezerworks. We have used this for control of our freezer stocks for a few years now. It is an off the shelf software application which gives information which is auditable, searchable and allows the generation of bar-codes for labels etc.

Try LabCollector. You will need to check if your requirements can fit the basic design that comes with the software because it may be a bit difficult to change some fields. The best option would be to develop your own institutionalized software that you can define and influence what you place in or what you remove. Cheers.
