I've been seeding some human keratinocytes onto different substrates/conditions which demanded different media, from a stock of cells suspended in Keratinocyte Serum-Free Media (KSFM), supplemented with Pen/Strep. Thing is all the cells in KSFM have been infected, but the ones that I added to DMEM/FAD media (also with P/S as well as FBS) are fine. In the past we've been having recurring problems of contamination with the KSFM (different bottles) and I was wondering if the absence of serum or something else might make it more prone to antibiotics not working well or simply infection. Any help is welcome!
