Known observations for kinematical invariants (rotation, shear,...)?

We know about ths cosmic expansion, but what about the other kinematical invariants like shear and rotation? Concerning rotation there was a paper by Birch, but to my knowledge there were some problems with his results, so there is no observational proof.

Are there some new results from observation?
