We have studied the copper toxicity in Chaetoceros calcitrans in F/2 medium (without any modification) at salinity of 30ppt. But I have found in literature that modified aquil's medium is used for trace metal studies. In which they have used artificial sea water for the preparation of f/2 medium, to which chelator-metal solution is added. Further they they have reduced the trace metal concentration to f/10. Is this type of media modification is required when we are conducting the experiment in natural sea water?
