Twice we have confirmed the results.
patient is hbsag -ive / hbv pcr -ive / hb core -ive / anti hbe -ive / immune to hep b via vaccination / anti hcv -ive / hcv pcr -ive.
had a mild spike in alt and ast for which he was investigated and found to have Anti Hdv positive, alta ast have normalised.
Hi!! I have no experience of isolated HDV. We could consider the epidemiology of patient: Older? Lives in a place with high prevalence of HBV or even has a fanily history that may indicate a past HBV infection. And thus, consider a possible case of serumreversion to HBV to explain the negative markers, wichich is not uncommuon for hepatitis. ]
Isolated hepatitis D infection is not possible. HDV infection always requires the presence of HBV, as HDV depends on HBV’s surface antigen for its life cycle. All available research and clinical guidelines confirm that HDV cannot infect or persist in the absence of HBV
